Training your ‘lower bicep’? REALLY? THERE ISN’T ONE!!

Posted by & filed under .

First of all there isn’t a lower bicep; that is a fact, end of story…

So no gents, I might be a ‘girl’ but I’m a gym girl, and I know what I’m talking about. A preacher curl might enable you to feel some extra ‘pump’ above the elbow but this is actually a muscle called the brachialis.

This muscle sits under the biceps coming from the middle of the humerus (upper arm bone) to the radius (forearm bone) and in a preacher curl because the shoulders are slightly flexed the biceps can’t kick in as efficiently as without the pads there. This makes the short head of biceps brachii and the brachialis work their little anterior arm butts off! When this brachialis muscle gets it’s ‘pump’ (remember it lies under the bicep) it pushes the lower area of the bicep forward, hence the ‘lower bicep’ pump.

So please, please, Mr @ David Lloyd, Kingston, who shall not be named, don’t tell me you’re training your lower bicep, you just sound silly…
